Will People Show Up?

How will you know?

Organize people, get them to commit to a date, time and place. Use software to get their commitment one way or another. If people change their mind or something comes up, they can cancel and people attending will know not to expect them.

Notes: There was a #Breakfastup tweetup (meeting of Twitter users) planned for this morning, Friday March 18, 2011 for 9 AM, and there were a bunch of cancelations and no shows. There was no way to know who would show up. Actually, it would have been good to see who still planned on going, it would have enabled the event to be rescheduled. In the end, only three people attended including me. We did have a good conversation.

Meetup Organization Tool – Tungle

At a recent meetup I met someone for the first time in real life. We only had time to exchange friendly greetings. There was an after party, but even there we were seated at different tables. Well, one way to actually have a conversation with this person is to invite them and two other people to meet for a tweetup. We have been following each other on Twitter for a while already. Since my suggestion to meet for a tweetup with two other people was public, someone jumped in and said they would like to be one of the two other people. So, we have three people with relatively unknown schedules. Mine is known to me and would likely be in conflict with most people during the week. My availability Monday through Friday is mostly in the morning. No afternoons and no evenings. So, there is a tool that at least 2 of the three of use are suing that would be perfect for finding common times of availability, that app is http://www.tungle.me/Home/. This should allow the third person to see when we are available so she can choose  a day and time that works for all of us.

#Breakfastup: Year End Tweetup at Zeff’s in Eastern Market (Detroit, MI)

Today, Friday December 31, 2010 there was a breakfast tweetup in Eastern Market (Detroit, MI). We met at Zeff’s Coney Island around 9 AM.

Attendees included: @3sixteenweb @divinemsmel @Wattyz @digitalvision @Admore @TJList @davidlingholm (& wife) @noisyzen @guinnessatticus

Think that’s everyone.

Some of use were there until noon or 1pm. Don’t recall the actual time the four of us left. We headed to the R. Hirt Jr. Co. and Cost Plus Wine Shoppe.

There were a few pictures taken.  Perhaps those will appear in a post next year. 😉
